<\/p>\nA poor man is stunned to wake up one morning and find his father\u2019s old trailer in his yard with a note from his older brother \u2014 but the despised inheritance ends up making his fortune.<\/p>\n
Mark Kendrick was struggling. When he\u2019d first married, it looked as if life would run smoothly. He had a good job, and so did his wife, Sally. But then back in 2008, his wife lost her job as a chef when the restaurant she worked in closed down.<\/p>\n
Left with a huge mortgage, two children, and one salary, the Kendricks had struggled. When Mark\u2019s father passed away in 2019, his estate \u2014 which was substantial \u2014 had all gone to his brother, Jim. It seemed that Mark just couldn\u2019t catch a break.<\/p>\n
Even though Mark never told anyone, even Sally, the conditions of his father\u2019s will had hurt him deeply. Mark was the younger brother by nearly 20 years and the child of his father\u2019s second marriage.<\/p>\n
Mark sat on the front porch looking at that trailer for hours. It certainly needed a lot of work\u2026 Then he pulled his dad\u2019s recipe out of his pocket and stared at it. \u201cSally!\u201d he cried. \u201cCome here! I have an idea!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is it, Mark?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know how you always said you wanted your own restaurant?\u201d he asked excitedly and pointed at the old trailer. \u201cThere it is!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you mad?\u201d gasped Sally.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo!\u201d Mark said. \u201cListen, we transform that old trailer into a mobile restaurant\/ food truck. We make that amazing clam chowder of my dad\u2019s\u2026 We\u2019ll paint it bright, happy colors and string up lights\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat could work,\u201d said Sally thoughtfully. \u201cIf we can afford the licenses\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
They could and they did. Pretty soon, people were coming from all over the city to eat Pop\u2019s Chowder and Mark had to give up his job to help Sally. They started a franchise, and before long, there were Pop\u2019s Chowder food trucks all over the state.<\/p>\n
Mark was delighted. His father\u2019s memory was honored every day, with every bite a satisfied customer took of that amazing clam chowder. And thanks to that legacy, he was taking good care of his family.<\/p>\n
Mark called Jim and invited him and his family to join them for a family lunch at the old refurbished trailer. Jim came and ate the chowder and the two brothers made peace, just as their father would have wanted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
